Message from College of Business Dean, Brian T. Kench, Ph.D.
It is an honor and a pleasure to welcome you to the Hospitality and Tourism Management program in the College of Business at the University of New Haven.
We have deep and distinguished roots. Our business program started at Yale in 1920. From the beginning we had a practical, hands-on foundation. This remains true to this day. Exemplars in the Hospitality and Tourism Management program are the Hazell Nut Café and Jeffery’s Fusion. The café and the restaurant are two student-run laboratories and training facilities where students learn first hand what it takes to run an established business.
We also provide a practical, hands-on experience by connecting students with local companies and nonprofits. Students serve as consultants that analyze and solve business problems in the hospitality and tourism management industy. Students participating in our consulting projects are often offered employment upon graduation.
The University of New Haven is located within two hours of Boston and New York City. This gives students the opportunity to participate in internships that help them to understand and experience the world of business well before graduation.
Our students come from across the country and around the world to join a dynamic learning community with a student faculty ratio of 16 to 1. They benefit Day One from meaningful relationships with faculty who are experts in their field and passionate about teaching.
I welcome you to visit with us. And I look forward to having you join the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program and discover everything that awaits you at the University of New Haven.
Brian T. Kench, Ph.D.
